SHARING FROM THE ASIAN CIVILISATIONS MUSEUM (SINGAPORE), YVES SAINT LAURENT MUSEUM (PARIS) AND ANDREW GN
Fashion designers have encountered, been inspired by and imagined Asia in a variety of ways in the course of centuries. As a global fashion capital, Paris is home to designers, from the West and the East, who have attempted to tell the story of Asia in their collections. How do Paris-based designers like the late Yves St Laurent and Singaporean Andrew Gn tell stories of Asia in fashion? And how are museums in Paris and in Singapore collecting and presenting these stories? How has COVID-19 impacted both fashion and fashion in museums?
Join us for an hour-long discussion (45 min discussion with 15 min Q&A) between Paris-based Singaporean fashion designer, Andrew Gn; Director of Asian Civilisations Museum, Singapore, Kennie Ting; and Heritage Curator and Director of Collections, Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris, Aurélie Samuel. The discussion will be moderated by Curator of Fashion and Textiles & Peranakan, Asian Civilisations Museum, Jackie Yoong.
TIME: 5PM | Programme will be live and available for subsequent viewing on ACM’s Facebook a few hours after live streaming has concluded.
