REIMAGINING SINGAPORE IN COLOUR

CITY SingaPOP is a celebration of Singapore’s local Chinese landmarks and other iconic buildings through the lens of French visual designer and photographer Nicolas Damiens. Featuring 70 works, the exhibition showcases his distinctive style—blending heritage and modern architecture with bold pop colours that evoke a retro atmosphere, offering a fresh perspective on the city’s urban landscape.

Inspired by the aesthetics of 1980s Japanese album covers, particularly those by Hiroshi Nagai, Damiens’ City Pop series captures Singapore’s unique blend of tropical charm and futuristic skyline. His carefully edited compositions enhance colours and highlight a nostalgic yet playful energy, reimagining shophouses, skyscrapers, and lush city views. Having lived in Paris and New York, Damiens launched this project in 2023 as a personal and creative exploration beyond his advertising work, bringing new life to Singapore’s cityscape.
