Harry Zhuang and Henry Zhuang’s short film jù rén has been selected in the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2020, for the Official selection in the Perspectives short films section.
This stop-motion animation originally titled ‘’The Giant’ was developed as an adaptation of Tan Swie Hian’s first poetry collection back in 2017 when they were commissioned by National Arts Council Singapore to make a short animation. Combining a mixture of 3D CG and adding a few more stop motion scenes, Harry and Henry took 1.5 year to rework a new version, naming it ‘jù rén’.
This year, due to Covid-19, this year’s Annecy 2020 will be an online edition with their selections available for private viewing by registered and accredited participants.
The Annecy Animation Festival has received more than 3,000 films, all categories together, from 94 countries.
There are around 180 Short Films in competition: 37 films in the Official and 12 in the Off-Limits category, 20 in the Perspectives section, 10 in the Young Audiences section, 44 in the Graduation films, 21 in the TV films, and 35 in the commissioned films.
