MÉDÉE BY LES ÉPOPÉES AND THE OPERA PEOPLE
Following a successful collaboration in 2022, Femme X: Baroque Heroines, The Opera People teams up again with French ensemble Les Épopées and music director Stéphane Fuget, as well as Singapore’s only baroque ensemble Red Dot Baroque to present, Médée.
The myth of Medée is known for the most famous story of infanticide in Greek mythology, but who is Medée and what drives her to commit such a crime – and what are the stakes of this myth in the 21st century.
Adapted from Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s opera Médée, Médée is a new take on this age-old story of feminine rage, autonomy and redemption.
