Roja Chamankar | Singapore Writers Festival

As the world witnesses constant change due to globalization, some writers see the importance of multi-lingual writing as a means to promote cross-cultural understanding.
In this conversation, writers share their thoughts on the dangers of cultural silos and why multi-lingual writing can be an important way to connect humanity.

Born in Borazjan in Southern Iran, Roja Chamankar is a poetfilmmaker currently residing in the US. She has published poetry, books for children, and translated poems by Henri Meschonic from French into Persian. Her works have been translated into several languages and she has won several awards for her poetry.

The annual Singapore Writers Festival (SWF) returns from 1st to 10th November with the theme “A Language of Our Own”. This year’s festival seeks to explore the role of language in the formation of identities and communities through panel discussions, workshops, performances, films and talks featuring writers and speakers.
