How does language influence the way we think?
Six writers read from their works and speak on the peculiarities of their mother tongue(s). They will consider how language has shaped their narratives and the stories they tell.
Born in Borazjan in Southern Iran, Roja Chamankar is a poetfilmmaker currently residing in the US. She has published poetry, books for children, and translated poems by Henri Meschonic from French into Persian. Her works have been translated into several languages and she has won several awards for her poetry.
The annual Singapore Writers Festival (SWF) returns from 1st to 10th November with the theme “A Language of Our Own”. This year’s festival seeks to explore the role of language in the formation of identities and communities through panel discussions, workshops, performances, films and talks featuring writers and speakers.
