The ground: From the land to the sea – by Tarek Atoui
Famous sound artist and composer Tarek Atoui presents his first solo exhibition in Southeast Asia with The Ground: From the Land to the Sea, a spatial composition that comprises various sounds, instruments, music and new technologies.
Immerse in an ever-changing sonic and visual scenery with a unique curation that samples sounds from various sources – from an orchestra of unusual instruments, to musical interventions by various local and international musicians. For his presentation in Singapore, Atoui, together with sound artist Eric La Casa, will add to his collection recorded sounds from Singapore’s harbours.
At the core of Atoui’s practice lies an on-going process of intervention and collaboration. He will work with acclaimed Singapore musicians Vivian Wang and Yuen Chee Wai, and music curator Mark Wong, who in turn will invite other musicians and sound artists to intervene within the exhibition space. Each visit promises a different, multi-sensory experience.
Curators: Ute Meta Bauer, Founding Director, NTU CCA Singapore, and Professor, School of Art, Design and Media, Nanyang Technological University, and Khim Ong, Deputy Director, Curatorial Programmes.
