Alliance Française presents “(RE)BIRTHS”, as part of their “French Excellence” programme “NOTRE-DAME”: a spectacular exhibition on the iconic cathedral’s construction and its successive restorations, from the first stone to the current renovation.

Immerse yourself in the history of Notre Dame, through a huge 1:100 scaled model (1.5 meters long), a virtual reality experience, videos, photographs and computer-generated images. (Re)discover the gallery, transformed for the occasion, and the cathedral, which became one of the symbols of France through the centuries.

More about the VR experience:  A fantastic VR experience is offered in the exhibition, for visitors to enjoy a unique virtual tour of Notre-Dame de Paris. Ubisoft, in the video game “Assassin’s Creed: Unity”, has reconstructed the cathedral, thanks to 5,000 hours of graphic work, guided by historians. “Notre-Dame de Paris: Journey to the Past” offers the possibility of (re)discovering the cathedral from different points of view, some of which are inaccessible to the public (the roof, the flying buttresses, etc.), in the heart of a lively Paris at the end of the 18th century.

As part of the “French Excellence” programme “NOTRE-DAME,” currently in full swing at Alliance Française, discover “ETERNAL NOTRE-DAME”, an unprecedented fine art photography exhibition by the renowned French photographer Michel Setboun, presented in partnership with Mabille & Chaumette.

Paying tribute to Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, Michel Setboun practised his art in threedifferent styles: Black and White, Colours, and Comic book processing. The latter style, very modern and unique, half-photo and half-design, refers to the colourful façade of the cathedral back in the Middle Ages. This stunning series celebrates the iconic masterpiece, both Parisian and universal, intimate and mysterious, multiple and eternal.

More about the artist photographer:

Michel Setboun started his career as a photo-reporter for the most famous Agencies: Black Star, Rapho, Sipa, Getty. He was distinguished during the Visa Image Festival in Arles (France), and has received the Top Award of the World Press Photo for a photo report on the refugees in Nigeria.

Today, Michel Setboun’s photographs are shown everywhere in the world. His Ayatollah Khomeini portrait is considered one of the 100 most remarkable photographs of our century.
