The Singapore Biennale 2025, titled pure intention, showcases contemporary art across a variety of venues and public spaces, inviting audiences of all walks of life to experience Singapore’s many layers built by all of those who have been a part of its history.
The Biennale activates a wide range of sites across the city: from pre-colonial and colonial landmarks reimagined as green public spaces, to residential neighbourhoods and everyday lived environments, as well as shopping centres that have become important social hubs for Singapore’s diverse communities.
This international edition brings together artists from around the world, including several with strong ties to the French-speaking world.
Among them is Pierre Huyghe, renowned for immersive works that blur the boundaries between art, living systems, and technology. Also featured is Franco-Canadian artist Kapwani Kiwanga, whose multidisciplinary practice investigates memory, power structures, and the role of historical archives. Gabriela Golder, supported by the Institut français d’Argentine, presents poetic video installations that reflect on history, resistance, and human rights.
