RAPSODIE ESPAGNOLE
¡Ole! Expect sumptuous songs, Flamenco rhythms, wry humour and an orchestral swirl of colours unique to the French masters in this evening of music inspired by Spain.
Performed by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Ravel’s one-act comédie musicale The Spanish Hour is semi-staged with Singaporean mezzo-soprano Jade Tan in the leading role, while baritone Bo Skovhus serenades his perfect lady in the enchanting songs of Don Quichotte à Dulcinée.
This magical night conducted by Singapore Symphony Music Director Hans Graf also displays the orchestra in Ravel’s full sonic canvas, from the evocative Rapsodie espagnole to the electrifying, utterly unforgettable Boléro.
