THREE FRENCH UNIVERSITIES JOIN IPAL, THE JOINT LAB IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

CY Cergy Paris Université (CYU), Université Toulouse III and INP Toulouse has been invited to join IPAL, the French-Singaporean joint research centre on artificial intelligence, along with its founding members: the France National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Agency for Science, Technology And Research (A*STAR).

This signing of the partnership agreement took place on 15 June 2022 during the 2nd edition of the bilateral workshop “SINFRA”, which focused on several subjects on artificial intelligence such as big data management, embedded systems and neurocybernetics among others.

The oldest joint laboratory of the CNRS in Singapore which has four, IPAL was launched in 1998 and was dedicated to the design of integrated networks for the exchange of knowledge and information, data analysis (data analytics and big data) and flow management systems for the Internet of Things and “Inclusive Smart Cities & Digital Health”.

Since 2019, IPAL has been contributing to the preparation of the “DesCartes” programme of which it was the driving force. In particular, the first edition of the bilateral workshop “SINFRA” was organized in Singapore, in December 2019, in order to define the programme carried out by CNRS@CREATE.

The new partnership agreement has been signed for the period 2022-2025. The five main research themes are: Explainable and Reliable AI, AI and Human-Computer Interactions, Natural Language Processing, Data Science and Applications, Effective AI.
