Both designers started their own practice in 1998, on different continents.
By education, matali crasset is an industrial designer. She sees design as a research process. She works from an off-centred posture that lets her act on daily life while projecting scenarios for the future at the same time. Her work consists in looking for new typologies and formulating innovative life logic. She defines this research as a soft accompaniment toward the contemporary.
Over the past 20 years, Nathan Yong has contributed to shaping the Singapore design scene while establishing his own legacy through international collaborations. Engineering ingenuity, the suitability of materials and of clever construction are crucial to him, as well as “the process of relentless questioning and reflecting before embarking on a project”.
Both designers will share their professional journey, discussing perspectives on today’s challenges, cultural specificities and the evolution of the design industry.
This event is presented by Le French Design by VIA, as part of the Voilah! France Singapore Festival.
It is supported by the Design Singapore Council, the French Embassy in Singapore, Alpine and The Fullerton Hotels and Resorts, in partnership with the National Design Centre, l’Ameublement Français, CODIFAB, Institut Français, Business France and Atout France.
