“Petite Maman” at The Projector

Few weeks after its premiere at the Singapore International Film Festival, “Petite Maman” is now released in the theatres at The Projector! Directed by Céline Sciamma (“Girlhood”, “Portrait of a Lady on Fire”), “Petite Maman” is a beautiful, elegant, and moving story of a young girl coming to terms with her grandmother’s death.

Petite Maman

By Céline Sciamma

Cast: Gabrielle Sanz, Joséphine Sanz, Nina Meurisse, Stéphane Varupenne

Rating : PG

Synopsis: 8-year-old Nelly has just lost her beloved grandmother and is helping her parents clean out her mother’s childhood home. She explores the house and the surrounding woods where her mom, Marion, used to play and built the treehouse she’s heard so much about. One day, her mother abruptly leaves. That’s when Nelly meets a girl her own age in the woods building a treehouse. Her name is Marion.

“A story even more delicate and moving than Sciamma’s last effort, this takes an unusual and thoughtful look at girlhood, motherhood and friendship.” Helen O’Hara, Empire Magazine

“Guileless and astute in its observation of childhood, Petite Maman is a fairytale without fringes and definitely one of the most touching films of the year.” Dustin Cheng, ScreenAnarchy
