The company Les Apprentis Comédiens returns, on 14 June at 8pm at the Alliance Française de Singapour, for a final performance of the play “The Vagina Monologues” directed by Yasmina Vally.

Created by New York author Eve Ensler in 1996, this play is composed of personal testimonies collected through interviews with over 200 women of different ethnic backgrounds, social statuses, and ages.

These interviewed women speak openly about their vaginas but also give them a voice, thus offering perspectives for reflection on the feminine condition and an innovative way of understanding the woman ’s body. By approaching various viewpoints on femininity, sex, identity, motherhood, and violence against women, this play, a reference in contemporary feminism, resonates with each and every one of us, women and men, as the themes addressed are part of current social movements illustrated by the #Metoo movement.
