French Master of the harp Xavier de Maistre to perform with Singapore Symphony Orchestra

Venue : Victoria Concert Hall

Xavier de Maistre will play one of the most beautiful concertos in the harp repertory, the scintillating Harp Concerto by “The French Mozart” François-Adrien Boieldieu, a work that will instantly charm its way into your ear and heart. Attendees will also get a chance to meet de Maistre face-to-face at the concert during his autograph session.

It’s not every day we see a harp in the limelight, let alone a male harpist; furthermore, an undisputed master of the instrument described by Gramophone as a “virtuoso of the highest order”.

Xavier de Maistre’s story with the harp began at age 9, when he fell in love with his beautiful harp teacher in music school. From age 16, the first competition prizes began to roll in, and at just age 23, de Maistre became the first-ever French musician appointed to the ranks of the prestigious Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Xavier de Maistre belongs to an elite category of soloists who are redefining what is possible with their instrument. Aside from classic works and new commissions, he brings new light to familiar tunes such as Smetana’s The Moldau with spectacular precision, presenting masterful arrangements of works that are usually played by an entire orchestra.
