Launch of TV5 Monde Plus: a global francophone platform

Tv5 Monde Plus

On 9 September 2020, TV5Monde launched its international French-language video on demand platform: TV5MondePlus.

With worldwide* accessibility, the platform offers content exclusively in French, delivered free of charge (AVoD) to all web and mobile devices (internet, mobile apps and connected TV) and subtitled in 5 languages (French, English, Spanish, Arabic and German).

Developed by TV5Monde and TV5 Québec Canada, with the backing of five governments*, TV5MondePlus aims to improve the discoverability* of francophone programming. The catalogue includes a wide range of content: films, series and documentaries, the best and most durable programmes from TV5Monde’s partner channels (France Télévisions, Radio-Canada, Télé-Quebec, TV5 Québec Canada, RTS and RTBF), its own productions (news, cultural magazines, documentaries) and African co-productions and podcasts.

TV5Monde also offers programmes from high-end cultural partners such as the Musée de l’Homme, Collège de France and Centre Culturel Canadien in Paris.

A sign-in option aims to enhance the user experience by having access to resume watching, favourites etc. Eventually, the catalogue will provide nearly 5,000 hours of programming, with more than 150 hours being refreshed each month.

This launch further strengthens TV5Monde’s position as a public-service French language broadcaster, adding a new digital dimension to its operation.
