OCEAN, DIVING INTO THE UNKNOWN
France shares a rich and multifaceted connection to the ocean, from inspiring literary myths to pioneering exploration. With the United Nations Ocean Conference to be held in Nice in June 2025, Alliance Française de Singapour is proud to collaborate with the French National Museum of Natural History to present Ocean, Diving into the Unknown.
This immersive exhibition tackles the scientific, artistic and political advances of a nation intimately linked to the life and resources hidden beneath the waves. Marvel at the mythical creatures that inspired such seminal works as Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. Discover the remarkable French contributions to exploration and scientific progress that have unlocked some of the mysteries of the deep. Be fascinated by the enigmatic flora and fauna worthy of fantastic stories. Yet, this secret life is not immune to the many threats the oceans are facing today. Hence, this exhibition examines the major environmental issues at stake, so that we can preserve this ocean of wonders for future generations.
